Crumple
The work originates from a simple, repetitive gesture: crumpling a sheet of paper. Through the reiteration of the action, a minimal and apparently insignificant gesture progressively turns into a force capable of occupying and altering space. Accumulation becomes the core of the work: what initially appears light and ephemeral grows until it becomes presence, mass and pressure. Repetition produces a transformation that involves both the matter and the body performing the action, pushing the gesture to its limit. In the installation the video is confined within a smartphone hung on the wall, while the sound of the crumpling paper is amplified and diffused throughout the environment. The contrast between the reduced scale of the image and the sonic expansion generates a perceptual gap that makes the logic of accumulation tangible: a minimal action that, through repetition, ends up invading the space and imposing itself on the ear.
