Poulets Joyeux

  • Installation
  • Ink and watercolour on rice paper, bucket of feed

Poulets Joyeux is an installation created within the project I re non toccano le porte in the village of Castelponzone, in the province of Cremona. The work was conceived for an old farmhouse, a space tied to the memory of agricultural labour and the presence of animals. The intervention consists in the invasion of the space by 104 small painted chickens, scattered through the environment like an ephemeral and festive community. The figures transform the farmhouse into an inhabited place once again, populating it with light presences that evoke everyday life, care and the collective dimension typical of the rural world. Completing the installation, a red bucket full of feed invites the visitor to perform a gesture of attention and nurture. Through this symbolic action, the work activates a relationship between public, space and memory, suggesting a possible continuity between the village's past and new forms of presence and participation.
