This Is My Farmyard

  • Installation
  • Egg-yolk tempera on wood and cotton threads
  • 200 × 200 × 200 cm (circa)

This Is My Farmyard stems from the desire to give shape to an imagined place. A farmyard built slowly through drawing, painting and the practice of egg tempera, with which each animal was made and tended brushstroke after brushstroke. Hens, ducks, geese and turkeys, painted and suspended a few millimetres above the ground, inhabit a fragile space suspended between reality and imagination. The installation takes the form of an evoked landscape, in which the presence of the animals suggests a domestic, affective and symbolic dimension. As happens in dreams, some figures appear sharp and recognisable while others remain only shadows. The work invites us to cross a liminal space, in which memory, desire and imagination intertwine in the construction of a possible place.
